The reason why some of our dear friends who are into what we call “Gospel Music” fight some of the correction brought to the lyrical contents of the songs they love and revere by some great “Gospel Acts” which isn’t scripturally correct is because of where they are in the Understanding of the Word and they uphold, believe and are proud of that stage they are in.
When they get open to understanding the Word better, and grow more in the knowledge of the Word, seeing Jesus Only and what He has done and completed for us and what He has given us to walk in now which includes our responsibility to share Truth about who He is, they also will do this same thing, point out these errors in such songs.
Dear Friends, Our Songs which you want to be sang in Church meetings(there are songs for Church gatherings because it is a spiritual meeting), should be able to deepen the convictions of the Saints concerning the Word taught.
If we preach Eternal Salvation and God’s eternal Love and Blessing and then sing Conditional Salvation or God’s conditional blessings, are we being helpful?
Aren’t we also confused and confusing others?
Or maybe it is the other way round falsehood preached, but Truth and Reality Sang, what will the case be for such persons?
Our songs should teach doctrine well enough, not feelings and emotions. If you want to add your emotions to your songs, good, but let the word content be one that will contain good teaching.
Emotions should be a tool used for presentation, it shouldn’t be the lead, Never should.
That someone cries when you sing doesn’t mean you are making any sense, you might just have stirred up some emotions, and not a consciousness of Christ, especially if Christ isn’t the focus of the song.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you RICHLY”, so it means you need an upgrade if you are still low in understanding of Him.
Let the knowledge of Christ fill you submit to be taught the Word, it will determine the flow of the kind of songs you will sing which will involve TEACHING. If your songs teach nothing about Christ, it is empty and has no place in a Church meeting.
17 says, that whatsoever we do(including singing), it should be in the name of the Lord Jesus, and Thanksgiving to God should be done By and Through Him(Christ).
Nothing glorifies and is praise to God enough than telling Him what He did for Us in Christ Jesus.
It is these songs that will and can be called praise to God, not just any kind of noise or something that has good beats.
Let our songs deepen the Conviction of the Word and the revelation of Christ in the Believer, not just some empty lyrics full of emotions.
I hope this edifies. Loves and Blessings to you.
