THERE’S NO GOOD TIME TO GIVE UP
(James 1:12; 5:7-11; 2 Corinthians 4:1-18)
MEMORY VERSE: “God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12 – NLT)._
Every achievement, spiritual or physical, requires patience and endurance. It’s those two virtues that sustain perseverance. For you to get to your place of success, you must develop a resistant heart against discouragement.
In business, it’s challenging and it may take some time to make and build a stable relationship with loyal customers. A good business man would do his best to win his customer’s loyalty through patience, integrity, trust and incentives. He must not chicken out on the customer’s initial resistance. So if you’re a business man or woman, considering quitting the business at this point where much work is yet required should not be an option.
Likewise, the kingdom’s journey. the Master who went the path we’re tracing knew what challenges we would encounter and He told us before hand. You must refer to your map or atlas for the journey so you may not miss it at any crossroad.
In this journey of faith, what may disqualify many of their eternal rewards may be little – just a tiny spot or a little wrinkle on their garments (Eph 5:27). The commendations of men about the work of the kingdom I do have little or nothing to add to me because the commendation that matters to me is the one of the King of kings. Of course, we all feel good when we know we’re doing well but much more is the joy when the Lord shall say, “well done, faithful servant”. You will hear God say that to you on the last day in Jesus’ Name.
Don’t you ever think of giving up on God. He hears your prayers; He’s thinking good thoughts about you, and He has a plan for your life (Jer. 29:11). When you give up, you only prove to Him that you can’t trust in His plans for your life anymore.
In essence, whether you like it or not, your patience and trust in God must be tested by situations and circumstances (Joh. 16:33). If you focus your attention on the smooth side of life, any little challenge will knock you off your feet. Be prepared for tough, rough, and challenging ride any time. However, you can be sure God is always with you whether or not you can feel His presence.
Finally, no provision is made for a time when you will give up because you are not expected to give up no matter what may come your way. The only way out is to press on, forgetting what’s behind (Phi 3:13-14). Also, if you know anyone who is giving up on their dreams, their calling, their family, friends, and even on themselves, you can be an encourager here. Please, don’t give up. Remember that we lose everything if we give up.
PRAYER: LORD JESUS, I need you to strengthen me that I may be able to press on towards the mark that’s set before me. I’ve put my hand to the plough, and there’s no looking back. So help me God. Amen.
